Lips for all seasons

Winter is probably drying your lips out while in summer they get burnt, it seems like you really just can’t win.  But its okay you don’t have to break the bank to make them better

Best Drugstore( I know that a really American term but will we all understand what it means) Lip Balms under $10 AUS

Everything on this list is purchasable at Priceline, local pharmacies, Target, Kmart, Supermarkets and department stores.

I as always I mention Priceline because they are really convenient and there is store 2 blocks down from me.

Burt’s Bees

photo from http://www.burtsbees.com.au

Really nice smell and taste, leaves a tingly sensation on your lips. The lip balm can be waxy for some

Carmex

photo from http://www.mycarmex.com

Not the nicest smell but it instantly works on your lips. Its amazing! If you have extremely dry lips try Carmex.

Nivea Lip Care

photo from http://www.nivea.com.au

Nivea have heaps of different flavours and colours to choose from and they are all amazing I have Nivea fruity shine strawberry lip balm because it has a small amount of tint too and its just works amazingly

Chapstick

photo from http://www.chapstick.com

I don’t think I know someone who didn’t have at some stage or another own a chapstick. It’s always been a favourite because of its low price, but high quality moisturizing capabilities.

Blistex

photo from http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au

At one stage in high school I think everyone had a Blistex lip balm, the little pots were amazing because even if they get warm or hot the lip balm doesn’t melt.

Babylips by Maybelline

photo from http://www.maybelline.com.au

Very cute packaging however the lip balm can be very drying for some lips. Does smell amazing though! Really good for a base lip balm under lipstick.

Lucas Papaw

photo from http://www.priceline.com.au

I love Lucas Papaw but I don’t think I ever managed to empty one. I would always lose it before then. It works for lips, skin, nappy rash and many more uses.

Vaseline

photo from vaseline.com.au

Vaseline is perfect to apply at night before heading to bed. Next morning you wake up with perfect lips. When I was a kid this was all I used.

My favourite and the one I use daily that isn’t a part of this list but I need to mention it

eos Lip Balm ( this one however I brought from Costco)

photo from evolutionofsmooth.com

EOS has delicious scents and organic formula. Smells great and look very cute in my bag.

What’s your favourite lip balm? Let me know in the comments below!

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

I wasn’t planning on reviewing this product just quite yet, but then I ended up going dancing on Saturday and had the chance to try L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. Please excuse the photos I didn’t have setup.

photo from http://www.lorealparis.com.au

Of course  I washed, moisturised and all that, I’m gonna skip the whole product list of my going out makeup look. Maybe one day I’ll do a tutorial of my drug store makeup look. So the main points are that I used L’Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer then Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation but I did use Revlon PhotoReady Powder to set the look.

oh the enthusiasm

L’Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer felt amazing on, it applied really easy, i used my fingers.

L’Oreal  Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation has a air-light texture with a demi-matte finish with medium coverage. As a person who has a very oil T-zone, I love it. Lucky for me the colour golden beige 104 was just perfect for me. I used a beauty blender sponge to apply. I was really happy with the finish of the make up.

I wore the makeup for about 6 hours, but 4 of those hours were intense dancing with the girls. I did get sweaty and hot but didn’t feel that my makeup was running or felt the need to blot. Yes, my nose could have used an oil blot towards the end of the night but all was still okay without it.

In the car selfie

I do highly recommend the L’Oreal  Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation it works great and it doesn’t break the bank.

Office Beauty: what’s in my desk drawers

I’ve seen lately many articles with must have items in your office drawer, some of them I completely agree with like oil blotters but a hair straightener seems a bit over dramatic.

Here is what actually lives in my office desk drawer, these items forever live there. So don’t mind the fact there isn’t any makeup, all my makeup comes and goes with me.

Most important item that lives at work
Moxie – Slenders

Image from moxie.com.au

It’s a 2 pack in really cute packaging. Ladies I don’t need to express why it is so important to keep things like this at your desk. I know that I have a convenient store across the road from my office but in an event of an emergency that store isn’t convenient enough.

Hair ties/ elastics

Scunci Hair elastics

Image from scunci.com.au

I have long hair and hair elastics are an everyday necessity for anyone with medium to long hair.  Scunci Hair elastics are the bomb! They don’t have the metal bit that gets stuck in your hair and pulls all your hair out.

Blotting paper

I can’t leave the house without this, I have a very oily T-zone. Yes, you could use a tissue or a napkin but blotting paper removes all the oil but leave the makeup in place. The one that’s in the picture above is just a cheapy I purchased from Daiso for $2.80. Normally I use Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets

Glasses

EyeBuyDirect – Chilling in Pink/Floral

Image from au.eyebuydirect.com

I have astigmatism, pretty much my eyeball isn’t round but more football. So everything at a distance is kind of blurry and wavy. I don’t need glasses to see see and I mean that in the sense that my prescription is so low that I don’t need glasses to see. I wear  them when I’m working or studying so that my eyes don’t get fatigued. I really recommend everyone get glasses from EyeBuyDirect they are really affordable. My new love is  the one above and the frame only cost $20!

Floss

My dental hygiene could be improved by brushing my teeth after lunch. I haven’t gotten to that level yet, but I’m a strong believer in flossing. I can’t stand food stuck in my teeth. Here’s a no-brainer tip for easy flossing: Try storing floss in your car, in your bag or in your office drawer.  Flossing helps prevent gum disease and cavities and NOT flossing is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, it makes you wonder why more people don’t do it.

Lip Balm

EOS – Smooth Sphere Lip Balm – Sweet Mint

Image from evolutionofsmooth.com

I’m in love with EOS their lip balms are so cutely packaged. EOS lip balms have been around for quite a while now, and they have so many celebrities using them including Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera and Kylie Jenner… just to name a few. Their lip balms smell amazing and they have this tingly feeling that last for a little bit that I also am a big fan of. Plus who doesn’t have lip balm with them because I hate the feeling when you don’t have one, all you do is keep licking your lips but it doesn’t help.

Hand Cream

MOR – Lychee Flower Hand Cream

Image from morboutique.com

Everyone should always carry around hand cream with them. You can never moisturize your hand enough. MOR Lychee Flower  is amazing absorbs well and is perfectly sized for your desk drawer or handbag, plus it smells amazing. Their whole range smells AMAZING! The packaging from my photo to the product photo does differ because MOR recently released new packing designs.

Hair Products
Garnier Fructis Goodbye Damage Strengthening Hair Oil

Image from garnier.com.au

Schwarzkopf  – Essence Ultime Omega Repair Beauty Balm

Image from priceline.com.au

I have so many hair products that I have stashed everywhere because I dye my hair so often my hair is DEAD. All these products help give my hair that appearance that  I have my sh*t together.
Garnier claims that Fructis Goodbye Damage Strengthening Hair Oil can Reverse 1 year of damage in 1 week! Of course this is base on their T&Cs but when you start using this product you can understand why they make this bold claim! And my God does this product just smell delicious!

Essence Ultime Omega Repair Beauty Balm isgreat . Like all of the Schwarzkopf  range this product  smells nice andsweet, and isn’t too strong so you don’t have to worry about it but your hair is will still be nice to smell. The pump works great to get just the right amount.

So ladies what do you have in your office drawers?

Wedding Makeup by Doaner-fide

Hello lovelies,

[ Side note ] It’s been 1 whole week since I’ve posted something, still trying to put my life back in order. Cassie and Johnnie’s wedding was AMAZING!

I had my first makeup trial with the AMAZING Trang from Doaner-fide.
I was actually the first wedding the Doaner-fide has booked. Trang is a friend of my sister but I guess I’ve been around them and well stalked her online social media enough that I have always admired her work.

Originally I was actually going to do some crazy time-management tight schedule planning and get my makeup done at INGLOT and Napoleon Perdis at their concession stands at a very local shopping center. Everyone thought I was being crazy. But at $89 per person with product redemption it’s hard to beat, plus I’ve never walked away from them unhappy with my makeup. It wasn’t because I was being cheap or trying to save, it was a matter of I wasn’t really happy with the MUAs that I have experienced. Many times after having my makeup done professionally, Nathan has stated “babe I think you do a better job yourself”

In a moment of genius I asked Trang, she was actually hesitant at first but I wanted to at least do a trial. I’ve followed her Instagram for ages now and love her makeup and her. I wanted someone I wanted to deal because wedding day stressful enough. I didn’t want someone that I couldn’t trust and that I would sit there thinking I could do this better or OMG OMG is this going to be okay?

Laura and I went to have a makeup trial with Trang and well we were both blown away by her knowledge and MAKEUP COLLECTION! I felt like I was in Mecca or Sephora, I touched EVERYTHING, took photos and I didn’t feel like someone was watching me thinking ‘lady this is the 5 lipstick you tried, you better buy something’.

So I have booked Trang and she will be doing my makeup and all of my bridesmaid makeup and I’m really super excited about it SHE IS AMAZING!

I’m going for a very nude and simple day look but I will have a more smokey eye later in the evening. While my bridesmaids are getting full smokey eye all day.

Fitness & Yoga & bad habits

So I’ve been doing yoga for about a month now at the very awesome Move yoga studio in Melbourne. Any Melbournians thinking of doing yoga come join us on the mat.

I’ll have to take a photo of me and my current state when I get home. I’m not trying to brag or anything like FYI. So let’s start from the start.

I would personally  describe myself as slim, I’m not a tinny tiny skinny girl nor am I athletically built, without any professional training or advice I would categorize myself as an ectomorph.

As a child I was very athletic, I used to train for cross country almost every day. I ran the 3km or 1.5km races and I did high-jump, played volleyball and netball because I was tall. 179cm tall to be exact (now). In high school this carried on with school sport but everything changed during Uni.

I was no longer walking everywhere or playing sport, this is when I decided to start playing indoor volleyball with friends we play weekly until we didn’t.

My weight yo-yo here, I was never that unhappy with myself that I would suddenly diet or anything like that but I remember my ex (boyfriend at the time) told me that I had lost a lot of muscle mass and I was not just thin because I was. I was no longer toned.  This never really occurred to me until this point, yes while I was younger I once did have the core/abs of a rock star but I thought I was fine out it. Fine enough that well I didn’t get an hit the gym the next day, but not, so I would walk my dog.

Forward a few months maybe a year I met Nathan and we joined the gym together. We would go but then not go, as soon as his contract ended he cancelled his membership. I on the other hand tried to get at it but let’s be honest here barely got my monies worth of gym.

All I ever did at them gym was cardio and stretching. So after a while I canceled my membership too.

And then 1 month ago I came across the fairly new yoga studio move. I have signed up for there membership and I’ve been to at least 4/5 weekdays and when I first started I was even doing double yoga, sometimes even triple.

What I really learnt about myself and fitness is I have to make it as easy as possible. I go to yoga almost every night because it is convenient I walk out of work and yoga is pretty much a part of my way home.  It’s hard to commit if you have to make the effort to get there.

These are the small things that I have changed in my life and I’m really happy with the relationship I have with my body now.

Things that I do to keep myself going.

1. Make it as convenient as possible to exercise, yes the gym that is further away might be cheaper but you cannot be trusted to go.
2. Carry water every where you go, you’ll end up drinking it.
3.Before you buy a whole new “workout” wardrobe set yourself a mini goal like, if I go to the gym conservatively for a week then I’ll get new pants.
4. Eat right. Carry around healthy snacks and be okay that some days you are just going to eat that whole block of milk chocolate.
5. Follow Fitness bloggers or Instagramers for inspiration.
6. Get a good night sleep.
7. Reward yourself
