Face Basics

While the best way to have amazing skin is to have an awesome skin care routine. It doesn’t hurt to have a little help that doesn’t break the bank.

The 3 things you need are foundation, concealer, and powder.

The most important thing to note when choosing these products is your skin tone. In order to get the perfect match, you should always test the product on your face, your wrist is not the same colour to your face. I don’t know why people forget this all the time. Your skin gets so much more sun then your face. The best way is to be in-store with the help of a beauty assistant.

Here are some brands that you can get pretty much anywhere.

  1. Maybelline New York FIT me!
  2. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
  3. Australis Concealer
  4. Rimmel London Clear Complexion Powder
  5. ModelCo MINERAL POWDER – My favourite

Best of the Emmys 2016

Yes I know everyone has been discussing the who wore what of the Emmys but well I want to give you my two cents too. Also I’m doing this thing where I just blog about everything.

I love watching red carpet events I’m that person sitting on my couch judging and rating the best and worst dress while dressed like a bum. Some of my favourite moments or mentionable moments are the kids of “Stranger Things” handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Game of Throne, as if we didn’t realised they were pretty much going to win everything and Jimmy Kimmel’s had na hilarious opening monologue.

Okay but now to the serious stuff, my pick to the best dress. I’m going to go straight for my favourite person of course was Kristen Bell. It might be because I love her, it might be best she played Veronica Mars but it doesn’t matter she looked AMAZING!

Follow closing by Priyanka Chopra. She just looked like a glamazon. I loved the red dress I think she looked stunning.

Emilia Clarke, looked stunning in nude.emmys-2016-best-dressed-emilia-clarke

Sofia Vergara as always looked great, I don’t think she has ever looked bad

And finally Laverne Cox, she looked like the golden Globe.

Who what you favourite on the red carpet? Are you like me to you enjoy watching the red carpet events?

Guerlain Perles des Neiges Meteorites

For many the Meteorites range is the holy grail and this recent release is already sparking interest in the beauty community.

Price: $80 US –  Limited Edition

What the packaging says:
What it is:
A pearly-white Christmas bauble filled with the iconic Météorites illuminating powder pearls to enhance the face and décolleté with a radiant glow.

What it does:
These Météorites pearls are made of light-reflecting iridescent pearly particles that leave the skin looking radiant with an illuminating glow. It features pearls in beige hues to even out the skintone, champagne to illuminate, and golden for a subtle, sunkissed effect. These pearls are infused with light-correcting nacres that harmoniously blend together to create a pure and correcting light for perfectly tailored luminosity, creating an ultrasoft powder that smooths the complexion for a unique, soft finish. These powder pearls reveal the iconic violet fragrance of Météorites.

My thoughts:

It’s super expensive, as gorgeous as it is the price tag is something to really think about when  the Guerlain Teint Beige is so similar and only $58 US or MAC Snowglobe isn’t a bad dupe either at $26 US. It’s packaged in a snowglobe-like container that has a flattened bottom to prevent it from rolling about and the top of the lid has a lightly frosted, which is super cute. Its more of a finishing powder than  a highlighter to be honest but it last the whole day.  Some people can’t live without it and some people don’t understand the hype. I’m in the middle, I like it but the price range makes me want to cry.

Sephora Collection x Karen Walker Collection

A collaboration collection between Sephora and designer Karen Walker for the holidays.

Beauty Brush Set + Stand – $125 US

It’s limited-edition and a  Sephora-exclusive. The brush handles feature a tortoise shell pattern and feature 24 karat gold plated accents. The stand is also plated in 24 karat gold. The packaging features a filigree design with Karen Walker’s signature hidden imagery. I’m not a big fan of tortoise shell to be honest, but there is an understatement of elegance with the new six-piece brush set with a display stand.

This set contains:
– Powder brush
– Large angled foundation brush
– Angled blush brush
– Shadow brush
– Crease brush
– Display stand

Mirror Compact – $48 US

Again it’s limited-edition and a  Sephora-exclusive.The mirror is double sided with one side normal and the other 3X magnification. It features tortoise shell pattern plated with 24 karat gold. It comes with a faux leather zip pouch for easy carrying and protection.

It’s a very cute set however, I didn’t think I’ll be buying it, partly because of the tortoise shell and partly because I’m not in love with the brushes, also maybe I have just dropped all my life saving on the Real Tech Bold Metal brush set.

BiorĂ© New Charcoal range

I’m a big lover of Biore’s nose strips. I love looking at the strip after I’m done with it and thinking ewwy but also being so utterly satisfied. So when I was invited to try the new Biore Range I was super excited. I had actually seen the product in store already and was planning to buy it but knew that I’m already the proud own of aisle 4.

A little about me: combination skin, oily T-zone. My routine for washing my face: I always remove makeup first. I don’t use a cleanser for the bulk of makeup removal. My skin still thinks I’m going through puberty.

BiorĂ© Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser – RRP $10.99
I tried the cleanser first, it has the perfect pump dispenser, it gives you just the right amount to wash your face because you only need a little as it foams up very nicely. The whole range is black to emphasise the charcoal but it foams to be a white foam and there is a very pleasant scent that is light and does not linger. I actually really like the smell.

Upon application, there is a nice tingly feeling that makes you think its really doing something. I don’t have overly sensitive skin, I’m normal with an oily T-zone but some products instantly over dry my skin and then cause me to break out, I find that it is gentle enough to use twice a day and has helped to clear up some of my acne and to balance my combination skin. I find it did really help to clean out my pores. After washing with the cleanser, I was really pleased with the results.

BiorĂ© Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar – RRP $4.99
If you have body acne I can’t stress how much they product is GREAT! I’m lucky enough not to have body acne but I still tried the bar on my face and body. I was though hoping for more a scrub at the bar does claim to draws out and binds to deep-down dirt and oil for 2.5x* cleaner pores. I will say it’s a great soap, I felt really refreshed and again there is a very nice tingly feeling. This doesn’t lather or form up

BiorĂ© Charcoal Pore Minimiser – RRP $10.99
I feel like I’m starting to humble brag a bit but again I don’t have large pores but that doesn’t mean I didn’t love this exfoliator! Charcoal Pore Minimiser is like a thicker version of Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. I comes in a toothpaste like bottle (its just what I associate this style of bottle with) that flicks open and disperse a small amount of the gel and again it’s pretty much the perfect amount.

Again you will find that this product also gives your face a bit of a tingle too, I personally like this but people with sensitive skin probably not. It did cause a temporary redness right a few use but that can be expected with an exfoliator. Remember to moisturise after.

BiorĂ© Charcoal Self Heating One Minute Mask – RRP – $7.99
In the package get four of single-use mask serum. For the mask to work you face needs to be wet and it heats up instantly upon contact with water, don’t worry it doesn’t get too hot. OMG I wasn’t expecting to love this but OMG did I love this. I loved the heating so much, I don’t know why but I did. I highly recommend it. It instantly became one of my favourite face masks. It works so well, it’s not the kind of mask that gets hard or dries, which I loved because masks that get hard you need to make sure you don’t move your facial muscles. Instantly after washing this off I notice immediate smoothness, my pores weren’t as visible and they looked really clean.

BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips – RRP – $7.34
I will have to update my blog tomorrow, but here is the main thing I’ve been using all the cleaners and masks and have loved the results so much I actually don’t think I need to use the strips!!! But I’ll wack one on tonight!

Charcoal might not seem to be the first ingredient you think of when it comes to cleansing your face because its black and kind dirty but actually has amazing cleansing properties. It helps to draw out impurities in the skin and is the key ingredient inside the new range. Plus did you know that not only is BiorĂ© the number one facial cleanser in Japan, but in Japan they have been using charcoal for years for its beauty benefits, as BiorĂ© have said “We like to think of it as a dirt-magnet”

Draws Out All Impurities
